《Name Game》是韩国当代艺术团体 Rebel9 参与的互动展览装置项目,作为国立现代美术馆清州分馆(MMCA Cheongju)特别展 “The Art of Naming”(艺术命名)的一部分,在 2024年10月11日至2025年2月23日展出。
“Name Game” is an interactive exhibition installation project participated by the contemporary art collective Rebel9 from South Korea. It is exhibited as part of the special exhibition “The Art of Naming” at the MMCA Cheongju branch from October 11, 2024, to February 23, 2025.

The project is located at MMCA Cheongju, which is one of the branches of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Korea, responsible for collecting and exhibiting Korean modern art and international art. MMCA Cheongju exhibitions often explore art history, image context, and social semantics through special exhibitions. Centered around the core of artistic experience, “Title,” the exhibition aims to explore how the title of a work affects viewers’ understanding of art and the creative significance of “naming.” The exhibition brings together artworks from the museum’s collection while proposing a reflection on traditional naming rights.

《Name Game A》是一件 互动媒体装置,通过 AI 与访客互动生成作品新名称。访客从一组 NFC 关键词卡中选择灵感关键词,这些关键词与展览作品有关联。访客将卡片信息输入数字界面,AI 助力生成新的命名结果。这样的设计让观众在参与中成为“共同命名者”,而不再只是被动接受艺术名称。
“Name Game A” is an interactive media installation that generates new names for artworks through AI interaction with visitors. Visitors select inspiration keywords from a set of NFC keyword cards, which are related to the exhibition works. By inputting the card information into a digital interface, AI assists in generating new naming results. This design allows the audience to become “co-namers” in the process of participation, rather than just passively accepting art names.
在这一装置中,实体卡片与数字界面的结合营造出如同游戏般的参与体验,将传统由艺术家拥有的命名权暂时分享给公众,引发对图像与语言关系的思考。装置灵感来源于超现实主义画家 勒内·马格利特(René Magritte) 的命名方式探索。
In this installation, the combination of physical cards and digital interface creates a game-like participatory experience, temporarily sharing the naming rights traditionally held by artists with the public, prompting reflection on the relationship between images and language. The inspiration for the installation stems from the exploration of naming methods by the surrealist painter René Magritte.

该装置由数字标牌、实体按钮、NFC 卡片、电子书界面构成,安装于木质底座表面并涂有聚氨酯。
The device consists of a digital signage, physical buttons, NFC cards, and an e-book interface, and is installed on the surface of a wooden base coated with polyurethane.

《Name Game B》是一个分享互动平台,访客在现场或数字界面上可以看到其他参与者生成的命名结果,并通过现场投票选择自己喜欢的名称。它作为一种 公众参与的共享空间,强化了展览对于解读艺术名称多样性可能性的呈现。
“Name Game B” is a sharing and interactive platform where visitors can view the naming results generated by other participants on-site or through a digital interface, and choose their preferred names through on-site voting. As a public participation and shared space, it enhances the exhibition’s presentation of the possibilities of interpreting the diversity of art titles.
该部分装置通过数字标签实时展示生成名称,并允许观众投票互动。展览利用 Necker 立方体 视觉符号象征对同一作品多种解读的可能性,而整体的中性灰白设计则帮助访客直觉区分不同媒体功能。装置主体为倾斜结构的桌面形式,配备 28 张 NFC 卡片,鼓励观众之间的交流互动。
This part of the installation displays generated names in real-time through digital tags and allows for audience voting interaction. The exhibition utilizes the visual symbol of the Necker cube to symbolize the possibility of multiple interpretations of the same work, while the overall neutral gray and white design helps visitors intuitively distinguish between different media functions. The main body of the installation is a tabletop with an inclined structure, equipped with 28 NFC cards, encouraging interaction among visitors.

In traditional creation, the title of an artwork is usually determined by the artist or the curatorial team. The experiment of “Name Game” fundamentally rethinks “naming” as a mode of power and experience in cultural production by involving the public in the naming process.
多重解读的呈现 / Presentation Of Multiple Interpretations
项目通过可视化的参与结果、实时投票与共享机制,使不同访客对同一作品的理解产生差异,这也从互动层面体现出“艺术并非单一解释”的核心理念。
The project enables different visitors to have different understandings of the same work through visualized participation results, real-time voting, and sharing mechanisms, which also reflects the core concept of “art is not a single interpretation” from the interactive level.

语言与图像的关系探索 / Exploring The Relationship Between Language And Image
《Name Game》的设计受到超现实主义语义实践启发,它不只是一个互动装置,而是一次对 影像与语言之间关系的深度实验。通过互动命名,访客得以体验语言如何构建、转化甚至重塑观看体验。
Inspired by surrealist semantic practices, the design of “Name Game” is not merely an interactive installation, but a profound experiment exploring the relationship between imagery and language. Through interactive naming, visitors can experience how language constructs, transforms, and even reshapes the viewing experience.
