The Water Museum — owned by EPAL (The Portuguese Water Board) — adopts a pedagogical and scientific approach to the history of water supplies in Portugal, while transmitting some of the highlights of both EPAL’s history and social legacy.
The general concept for the permanent exhibition was the idea of a watercourse, suggesting its flow and the movement along it.

This idea came about through the design of the customised display tables, especially due to their organic shapes, as well as the colour scheme linking the tables with the floor.

For this reason, most of the exhibition is displayed on customised tables (tables encourage visitor interaction and are, therefore, intentionally low). The use of various infographics on the walls is also a feature that makes the content more appealing and easier for the target audience to understand.

A structure with a mirrored panel was designed on the ceiling, whose upper sides allow for lighting the space. This creates an appealing effect that contributes to an instant reading of the room, especially of the contents and shapes of the exhibition tables. The museum’s target audience is mainly students (children and teenagers).

We were also asked to design an institutional brochure and the graphic identity of the Water Museum with its various nucleus .
