As the first Chinese intimate lifestyle brand to debut at Paris Fashion Week, Darentang is reshaping the paradigm of erotic expression with the craftsmanship philosophy of a “Haute Couture Atelier”. Re-collaborating with the design team Yisuo (E Studio) for its appearance at the Shanghai International Adult Expo (API EXPO), the brand continues the subversive narrative from Paris Fashion Week. Guided by the curatorial concept of “Yudong Showroom”, we have achieved an aesthetic leap from intimate whispers to public art.
Using the fashion vocabulary of haute couture to reconstruct the aesthetic system of female desire — when intimate products shed the metaphor of shame, the expression of desire gains a luxurious and glamorous sense of ritual, just like that of a haute couture show. We materialize this pioneering concept into a spatial narrative: this place is no longer a shameful dark corner, but a catwalk where desire blooms freely.
The dynamic aesthetics of water are condensed into a spatial language. Exhibition cabinets use smooth organic curves to emulate the form of water ripples, forming a spatial dialogue with linear tracks that evokes a sense of “rhythm and cadence”. The exquisite weaving technique of the fabric texture on the cabinet back panels perfectly showcases the delicate texture of water waves.
The iconic aquamarine extends beyond a visual symbol to become a tangible emotional carrier — when fingertips touch those specialty-finished fabrics, the three-dimensional water ripple texture instantly evokes gentle bodily memories.
The space extends through the stacking of layered and staggered geometric blocks, creating a surge-like rhythmic beauty that smoothly guides the natural flow of sightlines and circulation paths. The interlocking blocks form semi-transparent visual screens, fostering a captivating visual tension between concealment and revelation.
The exhibition hall, themed “Flowing Catwalk”, elevates the presentation of desire into an exquisite dynamic ritual. The space features the iconic aquamarine as its keynote, with gradient blue spherical lights rising and falling in brightness like the breath of the deep sea, outlining the tidal rhythm of desire.
We have created the “Twin Affections” Interactive System — the front side features a pleasure-inducing sensor-based interactive device, while the back side ingeniously transforms into a counter, achieving seamless integration of emotional interaction and consumer experience.
Taking Darentang’s 16 offline stores nationwide as touchpoints, the interactive device builds a nationwide connected immersive “Emotional Resonance” experience — when users tap the sensor panel in the store, the device immediately triggers tidal-like soft light pulses. The breathing lights progress layer by layer from near to far, forming a dreamy connection of “fingertips awakening the space”.
This is more than just an exhibition hall; it is a flowing poem about female desire — as products flow in light and shadow, as eyes wander through the space, we witness how pleasure gains the right to elegant expression. Here, every detail speaks to this truth: desire deserves to be treated with grandeur, and pleasure is worthy of the most elegant ritual.
