Located in the Longwan area of Wanjiang Subdistrict, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, the 1835 Urban Pavilion is a 300-square-meter exhibition space transformed from a former industrial factory. Commissioned by Vanke Group, DND (Diameter Narrative Design) was entrusted with full responsibility for the spatial narrative and exhibition design.
Themed around the “Future City,” the pavilion explores urban and industrial transformation in Dongguan through a case study of the Longwan district’s new planning framework, while also inviting broader reflections on future urban development. Using installations and new media as its primary design language, the exhibition weaves together the region’s industrial heritage with its envisioned future. At its heart is the futuristic crystalline installation “HELLO GALLERY”—a dynamic artwork that extends from the interior space out onto the city street. Serving as both an exhibit and a flexible platform, it enables continuous updates of art content, infusing the pavilion and surrounding campus with ongoing creative energy. The Vanke Longwan Innovation Hub – 1835 Urban Pavilion officially opened in December 2018.
